۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 and halt them [there]!" [And then,] behold, they shall be asked, 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right." 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 "So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment). 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 Then verily, that Day, they will (all) share in the torment. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 on couches facing each other. 44 A cup will be passed round among them [with a drink] from unsullied springs, 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 Free from headiness; nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 [as free of faults] as if they were hidden [ostrich] eggs. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 who would say, "Are you a confirmer? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 He shall say: Will you look on? 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 If it had not been for the blessing of my Lord, I would also have been taken to Hell." 57 Are we not then to die 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is that the better entertainment or the Tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have indeed made that a punishment for the unjust. 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 and its fruits are like devils' heads. 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 Before them a multitude of people of olden times had erred, 71 although, verily, We had sent warners unto them: 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Save the bondmen of Allah sincere. 74
