۞ (God will command the angels), "Gather together the unjust, their spouses, and what they had worshipped 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 "'What is the matter with you that ye help not each other?'" 25 No, today they will resign themselves in submission, 26 and advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray." 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 Nay: he has come with the truth and verified the apostles. 37 you shall surely taste the painful punishment, 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In Gardens of Delight. 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true 52 After we are dead and have become all dust and bones shall we still be requited?' 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 He shall say: By Allah! you had almost caused me to perish; 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 Then, are we not to die 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 It is for the like of this that all should strive. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 Then to Hell they will surely be returned. 68 They indeed found their fathers astray, 69 Yet they hasten to follow in their footsteps. 70 Before them erred most of the ancients, 71 And verily We sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were warned (but heeded not). 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
