And indeed Nooh prayed to Us – so what an excellent Acceptor of Prayer We are! 75 We saved him and his family from the great affliction, 76 And made his seed the survivors, 77 and We established for him a good name among posterity. 78 Peace and salutation to Nuh among the nations. 79 Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 80 Verily, he [Nuh (Noah)] was one of Our believing slaves. 81 Thereafter We caused the others to be drowned. 82 ۞ And verily of his sect was Ibrahim. 83 when he turned to his Sustainer with a heart free of evil, 84 and asked his father and his people, "What is that you worship? 85 Is it false deities that you want to serve rather than Allah? 86 What, then, do you think of the Sustainer of all the worlds?" 87 Then he looked carefully at the stars 88 Then he said: Surely I am sick (of your worshipping these). 89 So they went away from him, turning back. 90 He then sneaked upon their deities and said, “Do you not eat?” 91 What is the matter with you that you do not speak?" 92 And then he fell upon them, smiting them with his right hand. 93 So the disbelievers came running towards him. 94 He said, 'Do you serve what you hew, 95 While Allah created you and that which you do?" 96 They exclaimed: "Build a pyre for him, and cast him into the blazing fire!" 97 And they intended for him a plan, but We made them the most debased. 98 He said: 'I will go to my Lord; He will guide me. 99 [And he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Bestow upon me the gift of [a son who shall be] one of the righteous!" 100 And We gave him the glad tidings of a very gentle son (Ishmael). 101 Then, when (the son) reached (the age of) (serious) work with him, he said: "O my son! I see in vision that I offer thee in sacrifice: Now see what is thy view!" (The son) said: "O my father! Do as thou art commanded: thou will find me, if Allah so wills one practising Patience and Constancy!" 102 Then (remember) when they both submitted to Allah’s command, and Ibrahim lay his son facing downwards. (The knife did not hurt Ismail) 103 And We called out to him saying: O Ibrahim! 104 You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. 105 This was indeed a plain trial. 106 And We ransomed him with a momentous sacrifice: 107 and left him thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among later generations: 108 "Peace and salutation to Abraham!" 109 That is how We reward those who do good. 110 he was among Our believing servants. 111 Then, We gave him the glad tidings of Isaac, a Prophet, one of the righteous, 112 We blessed him and Isaac: but of their progeny are (some) that do right, and (some) that obviously do wrong, to their own souls. 113
