(In the days of old), Noah cried to Us, and We are the best to hear prayer. 75 We saved him and his people from the great distress, 76 And made his seed the survivors, 77 We left mention of him among later generations. 78 Peace be upon Noah among all the nations. 79 Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. 80 Lo! he is one of Our believing slaves. 81 We drowned all the others (besides Noah and his people). 82 ۞ AND, BEHOLD, of his persuasion was Abraham, too, 83 When he came to his Lord with a sound heart 84 "Behold!" he said to his father and to his people, "What are these that you worship? 85 “What! You desire, through fabrication, Gods other than Allah?” 86 "Then what do you think about the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists)?" 87 Then he cast a glance at the stars, 88 And said, "Indeed, I am [about to be] ill." 89 But they turned their backs on him and went away. 90 Then he turned aside to their gods secretly and said: What! do you not eat? 91 "What is the matter with you that you speak not?" 92 And he turned upon them smiting them with his right hand. 93 So they (people) advanced towards him, hastening. 94 He said: worship ye that which ye carve. 95 while it is Allah Who has created you and all that you make?” 96 They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!" 97 But whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We [frustrated their designs, and thus] brought them low? 98 And he said (after his rescue from the fire): "Verily, I am going to my Lord. He will guide me!" 99 “My Lord! Give me a meritorious child.” 100 We gave him the good news that he would have a patient, forbearing son. 101 And when he became capable of working with him, Ibrahim said, “O my son, I dreamt that I am sacrificing you – therefore now consider what is your opinion”; he said, “O my father! Do what you are commanded! Allah willing, you will soon find me patiently enduring!” 102 When they had both submitted to God, and he had laid his son down on his face, 103 We called out to him "O Abraham! 104 Of a surety thou hast fulfilled the vision. Verily We! thus We recompense the well-doers. 105 It was certainly an open trial. 106 And We ransomed him with a tremendous sacrifice, 107 And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times. 108 Salamun (peace) be upon Ibrahim (Abraham)!" 109 Verily We! thus We compense the well-doers. 110 He was one of Our believing servants. 111 So We gave him the good news of Isaac, apostle, who is among the righteous. 112 We blessed him and Isaac: but of their progeny are (some) that do right, and (some) that obviously do wrong, to their own souls. 113
