And Yunus was most surely of the apostles. 139 When he ran away to a ship completely laden, 140 And then they cast lots and he was the one who lost, 141 [and they cast him into the sea,] whereupon the great fish swallowed him, for he had been blameworthy. 142 And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah) 143 he would have lingered in its belly till the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ But We cast him, upon the shore, and he was ill, 145 and We caused a gourd tree to grow over him. 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 and they believed, and We gave them enjoyment for awhile. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons? 149 Have We created the angels as females before their very eyes? 150 No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: 151 “Allah has begotten.” They are liars! 152 Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons? 153 What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement? 154 “So do you not ponder?” 155 Or have ye an authority manifest? 156 Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful. 157 They have established a kinship between Allah and the angels; and the angels know well that these people will be arraigned (as culprits). 158 (They say): “Exalted be Allah above what they attribute to Him, 159 except for the sincere worshipers of Allah. 160 So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). 161 Can tempt anyone to rebel against Him. 162 Save him Who is to roast in the Flaming Fire. 163 There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position); 164 Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks, 165 "And we are verily those who declare (Allah's) glory!" 166 And there were those who said, 167 “If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore 168 we would surely have been Allah's chosen servants.” 169 But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know. 170 We have already given Our promise to Our Messengers 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 And that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors. 173 Hence, turn thou aside for a while from those [who deny the truth,] 174 And (then) see them, so they too shall see. 175 Do they seek to hasten Our chastisement? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards – so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 So turn thou from them for a while, 178 And watch; they will come to know soon. 179 Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe. 180 And Peace on the messengers! 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
