And indeed Yunus is one of the Noble Messengers. 139 Call to mind when he fled to the laden ship, 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers, 141 Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame. 142 Had he not been of them who glorify Allah, 143 he would certainly have remained in its belly till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on to the vacant surface of the earth while he was sick. 145 We made a plant of gourd grow up for him. 146 We sent him as a messenger to a hundred thousand people or more, 147 and they believed. So We let them enjoy life for a while. 148 So ask them for a pronouncement -- Has thy Lord daughters, and they sons? 149 Or did We make the angels females, and they witnessed it? 150 Is it not a lie invented by them when they say: 151 Allah hath begotten. Allah! verily they tell a lie. 152 “Has he chosen daughters instead of sons?” 153 “What is the matter with you? What sort of a judgement you impose!” 154 Do you not understand? 155 Or is there for you a plain authority? 156 Then bring your book, if you are truthful. 157 And some people have invented a kinship between Him and all manner of invisible forces although [even] these invisible forces know well that, verily, they [who thus blaspheme against God] shall indeed be arraigned [before Him on Judgment Day: for] 158 (They say): “Exalted be Allah above what they attribute to Him, 159 except for God's sincere servants. 160 So you and your deities 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 [All forces of nature praise God and say:] "Among us, too, there is none but has a place assigned to it [by Him]; 164 we are those who stand ranged in ranks. 165 we are they that give glory. 166 And indeed, the disbelievers used to say, 167 'If only we had a reminder from the ancients, 168 we would certainly be true servants of God." 169 They have rejected the Quran. They will soon know the consequences (of their disbelief). 170 We decreed that Our Messenger servants 171 That undoubtedly, only they will be helped. 172 and that Our army will be triumphant. 173 So, (O Prophet), leave them alone for a while, 174 And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)! 175 Our torment seek they to hasten on! 176 But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned. 177 Withdraw from them awhile 178 And watch and they shall see (the torment)! 179 Glory be to thy Lord, the Lord of Glory, above that they describe! 180 And peace be on the apostles. 181 and praise belongs to God, the Lord of all Being. 182
