S (Saad)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Saad, by the Holy Reading (Koran) of the Remembrance. 1 Nay, those who desbelieve are in false pride and opposition. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. 3 And they were surprised that a Herald of Warning came to them from among themselves; and the disbelievers said, “He is a magician, a great liar!” 4 Has he made the gods [only] one God? Indeed, this is a curious thing." 5 The chiefs among them departed saying: go, and persevere in your gods; verily this is a thing designed. 6 We never heard of it in the former faith. It is surely a fabrication. 7 Can it be that he alone has received the Quran?" In fact, they have doubts about My Quran and this is because they have not yet faced (My) torment. 8 Or have they the treasuries of thy Lord's mercy, the All-mighty, the All-giving? 9 Or is it that theirs is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is between them? Then let them ascend by any 10 this host too, among other hosts, is bound to suffer defeat. 11 Before them there have belied the people of Nuh and the 'Aad, and Fir'awn the owner of the stakes. 12 So also did the people of Thamud, Lot, and the dwellers of the Forest. 13 not one [was there] but gave the lie to the apostles - and thereupon My retribution fell due. 14
