In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
SAD. I CALL to witness the admonishing Qur'an. 1 No, the unbelievers exalt in their division. 2 How many did We destroy before them of the generations, then they cried while the time of escaping had passed away. 3 They are surprised that a warner should come to them from among themselves. They say, "This is a magician, a great liar. 4 Does he claim that all the deities are [but] one God? Verily, a most strange thing is this!" 5 And the elders among them went forth saying: “Go ahead and be steadfast in adhering to your deities. What is being said is with a design.” 6 We heard not thereof in the later faith; this is naught but an invention. 7 “Is the Qur’an which is sent to him, among us?” In fact they are in a doubt concerning My Book; in fact, they have not yet tasted My punishment. 8 Or have they the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord,- the Exalted in Power, the Grantor of Bounties without measure? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs? Then let them ascend by ropes! 10 this host too, among other hosts, is bound to suffer defeat. 11 The people of Noah, Ad and the dominating Pharaoh had rejected Our revelations. 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 not one [was there] but gave the lie to the apostles - and thereupon My retribution fell due. 14
