And remember Our bondman Ayyub (Job); when he cried out* to his Lord, “The devil has struck me with hardship and pain.” (After seven years of patience.) 41 [So he was told], "Strike [the ground] with your foot; this is a [spring for] a cool bath and drink." 42 And We gave him (back) his people, and doubled their number,- as a Grace from Ourselves, and a thing for commemoration, for all who have Understanding. 43 We said to Him, "Take a handful of twigs in your hand and strike with that but do not break your oath." We found him steadfast. What an excellent servant! He turned constantly to his Lord. 44 Also, remember Our worshipers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, those of might and vision. 45 Verily We exalted them in consideration of a sterling quality: their remembrance of the Abode of the Hereafter. 46 And verily they are with us of the elect of the excellent ones. 47 And make mention of Ishmael and Elisha and Dhu'l-Kifl. All are of the chosen. 48 This is a reminder. And lo! for those who ward off (evil) is a happy journey's end, 49 Gardens of Eden with gates open wide to them, 50 Reclining on pillows, in it they ask for fruits and drinks in plenty. 51 ۞ and wherein there shall be with them well-matched, bashful mates. 52 This it is what you (Al-Muttaqun - the pious) are promised for the Day of Reckoning! 53 This is Our provision for you, never to end. 54 This (is for the righteous). And lo! for the transgressors there with be an evil journey's end, 55 Hell, which they will [enter to] burn, and wretched is the resting place. 56 all this will be theirs; let them taste it -- a scalding, dark, foul fluid, 57 And other torments, like thereof, conjoined. 58 This is an army plunging in without consideration along with you; no welcome for them, surely they shall enter fire. 59 They say: Nay, but you (misleaders), for you there is no word of welcome. Ye prepared this for us (by your misleading). Now hapless is the plight. 60 They will say: "Our Lord! Whoever brought this upon us, add to him a double torment in the Fire!" 61 And they will Say: what aileth us that we behold not men whom we were wont to count among the evil ones? 62 What, did we take them for a laughing-stock? Or have our eyes swerved away from them?' 63 All this is certainly true -- the inhabitants of the Fire will blame one another in this way. 64
