Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha-Mim. 1 A revelation from the most benevolent, ever-merciful, 2 A Book, whereof the verses are explained in detail;- a Qur'an in Arabic, for people who understand;- 3 Giving good news and admonition: yet most of them turn away, and so they hear not. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 Those who do not give zakah, and in the Hereafter they are disbelievers. 7 Surely those who believe, and do righteous deeds shall have a wage unfailing.' 8
