Elucidated (Fussilat)

54 verses, revealed in Mecca after Forgiver (Ghaafer) before Consultation (Al-Shooraa)

In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful

Ha Mim! 1 This (Qur’an) is sent down from the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 2 A Scripture whereof the verses are expounded, a Lecture in Arabic for people who have knowledge, 3 As a giver of good tidings and a warner; but most of them turn away, so they do not hear. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say thou: I am only a human being like unto you; only it is revealed unto me that your God is but One God, wherefore take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe be unto the associators. 6 Who give not the poor-due, and who are disbelievers in the Hereafter. 7 Verily those who believe and work righteous works - unto them shall be a hire unceasing. 8
