When Abraham said to his father and his people: "I am rid of what you worship 26 except Him who originated me, for He will guide me' 27 And Abraham left behind this word to endure among his posterity so that they may return to it. 28 Nay! I gave them and their fathers to enjoy until there came to them the truth and an Apostle making manifest (the truth). 29 And when the Truth came to them they said: “This is just sorcery and we reject it.” 30 They also said: "Why was this Qur'an not sent down to some great man of the two cities?" 31 Will they distribute the mercy of your Lord? We distribute among them their livelihood in the life of this world, and We j have exalted some of them above others in degrees, that some of them may take others in subjection; and the mercy of your Lord is better than what they amass. 32 And were it not that mankind would have become one community, We should make for those who disbelieve in the Compassionate roofs of silver for their houses and silver stairways whereby they ascend. 33 And (silver) doors to their houses, and thrones (of silver) on which they could recline, 34 And (other) embellishments of gold; and all this is naught but provision of this world's life, and the hereafter is with your Lord only for those who guard (against evil). 35
