And when Ibrahim said to his father and his people: Surely I am clear of what you worship, 26 Other than Him who created me. He will show me the right way." 27 and he left these words to endure among his descendants, so that they might return [to God]. 28 Yes, I gave the good things of this life to these [men] and their fathers, until the truth came to them, and a messenger expounding things clearly, 29 And when the Truth came to them they said: “This is just sorcery and we reject it.” 30 And they say: wherefore hath not this Qur'an been revealed to a man of the two cities who was great. 31 But is it they who distribute thy Sustainer's grace? [Nay, as] it is We who distribute their means of livelihood among them in the life of this world, and raise some of them by degrees above others, to the end that they might avail themselves of one another's help - [so, too, it is We who bestow gifts of the spirit upon whomever We will]: and this thy Sustainer's grace is better than all [the worldly wealth] that they may amass. 32 And were it not that mankind would have become one community, We should make for those who disbelieve in the Compassionate roofs of silver for their houses and silver stairways whereby they ascend. 33 And (silver) doors to their houses, and thrones (of silver) on which they could recline, 34 And ornaments of gold. But all this would have been nothing but the vanity of this world. The Hereafter with your Lord is for those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path. 35
