۞ And when a description of the son of Marium is given, lo! your people raise a clamor thereat. 57 And they said, "Are your gods better, or is he?" They did not present the comparison except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute. 58 [As for Jesus,] he was nothing but [a human being] a servant [of Ours] whom We had graced [with prophethood,] and whom We made an example for the children of Israel. 59 if We had so wished, We could have appointed angels in exchange for you to succeed you on the earth. 60 And most surely it is a knowledge of the hour, therefore have no doubt about it and follow me: this is the right path. 61 Let not Satan hinder you (from believing in the Hour), for surely he is your open enemy. 62 When Jesus came with the signs, he said: "I have come to you with authority, and to explain some thing about which you are at variance. So fear God, and follow me. 63 Assuredly God is my Lord and your Lord; therefore serve Him; this is a straight path.' 64 But the factions differed among themselves. Woe alas to the sinners for the torment of the grievous Day! 65 Do they only wait for the Hour - that it should come on them all of a sudden, while they perceive not? 66 Friends on that day shall be foes to one another, but the god-fearing. 67
