Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By oath of this clear Book. 2 surely We sent it down on a blessed night, We have always sent warnings, 3 (We revealed it on the Night) wherein every matter is wisely determined 4 As a command from Our presence - Lo! We are ever sending - 5 as a Mercy from your Lord. Surely He is All-Hearing, All-Seeing, 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between the twain, if only ye would be convinced. 7 There is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death. [He is] your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers. 8 Aye! they're in doubt sporting. 9 So watch for the day when the sky begins to emit clear smoke, 10 Enveloping the people: this will be a Penalty Grievous. 11 'Our Lord, remove this punishment from us, we are believers' 12 How can there be for them an admonition (at the time when the torment has reached them), when a Messenger explaining things clearly has already come to them. 13 and they turned away, saying, "He is a trained and insane person". 14 Lo! We withdraw the torment a little. Lo! ye return (to disbelief). 15 The day that We shall seize them with a grievous hold, We will indeed castigate them. 16 ۞ And verily We tried before them Pharaoh's folk, when there came unto them a noble messenger, 17 saying, 'Deliver to me God's servants; I am for you a faithful Messenger, 18 "And exalt not yourselves against God: for, verily, I come unto you with a manifest authority [from Him]; 19 And indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me. 20 “And if you do not believe in me, then have no relation with me.” 21 Then he supplicated to his Lord saying: 'These are sinful people' 22 We commanded him, “Journey with My bondmen in a part of the night – you will be pursued.” 23 and leave the sea becalmed [between thee and Pharaoh's men]: for, verily, they are a host destined to be drowned!" 24 They left - how many! of gardens and springs. 25 and fields of grain, and noble dwellings, 26 And the comfort they enjoyed. 27 Thus (it was), and We gave them as a heritage to another people. 28 So the heaven and the earth did not weep for them, nor were they respited. 29
