Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha Mim 1 By the Clear Book. 2 surely We sent it down on a blessed night, We have always sent warnings, 3 On that [night] was made clear, in wisdom, the distinction between all things [good and evil] 4 at a behest from Ourselves: for, verily, We have always been sending [Our messages of guidance] 5 A mercy from your Lord, surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing, 6 He is the Lord of heaven and earth and all that is between them, if only you would really believe, 7 There is no god but He: It is He Who gives life and gives death,- The Lord and Cherisher to you and your earliest ancestors. 8 Nay, but they are in doubt, playing. 9 Watch for the Day when the heaven will bring clear smoke, 10 That shall overtake men; this is a painful punishment. 11 [They will say], "Our Lord, remove from us the torment; indeed, we are believers." 12 How can a warning benefit them? The Apostle who explained all things clearly had come to them, 13 Then they had turned away from him (Messenger Muhammad SAW) and said: "One (Muhammad SAW) taught (by a human being), a madman!" 14 Indeed, We will remove the torment for a little. Indeed, you [disbelievers] will return [to disbelief]. 15 The day that We shall seize them with a grievous hold, We will indeed castigate them. 16 ۞ Indeed before that We subjected the Pharaonites to the same test. A noble Messenger came to them 17 (and said): “Deliver to me Allah's servants. I am a trustworthy Messenger to you, 18 Do not think yourselves to be above God: I have come to you with clear authority. 19 I take refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you stone me. 20 "If ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me." 21 Then he called upon his Lord: These are a guilty people. 22 (His Lord answered): 'Set out with My worshipers in the night, for you will surely be followed. 23 And leave the sea behind you as calm as ever. Surely they are an army that is doomed to be drowned.” 24 How much they left behind of gardens and springs 25 And green crops (fields etc.) and goodly places, 26 And comforts of life wherein they used to take delight! 27 Thus (it was), and We gave them as a heritage to another people. 28 Then neither the sky shed tears over them nor the earth. They were granted no respite. 29
