And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 From Fir'awn; verily he was haughty and of the extravagant. 31 We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world 32 and showed them signs in which there was a clear test. 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 there is nothing beyond our first death; we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if what you say is true' 36 Are they better than the tribe of Tubba (name of a Yemenite tribal chief) and those who lived before them? We destroyed them. They were criminals. 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We did not create them save with a purpose, yet most people have no knowledge of this. 39 The Day of Decision is the appointed time for all. 40 On that Day no cousin shall help his cousin and they shall not be helped 41 Except those [believers] on whom Allah has mercy. Indeed, He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 42
