And We certainly saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment - 30 From Fir'aun (Pharaoh); Verily! He was arrogant and was of the Musrifun (those who transgress beyond bound in spending and other things and commit great sins). 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And We gave them portents wherein was a clear trial. 33 Most surely these do say: 34 "There is no dying for us but once; and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring back to life our fathers if what you say is true". 36 Are they, then, better than the people of Tubba and those before them, whom We destroyed because they were truly lost in [the same] sin? 37 It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
