So We saved the children of Israel from degrading suffering 30 from Pharaoh; surely he was a high One, of the prodigals; 31 And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures. 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 Yet these say: 34 "After we die, we shall never be raised to life again. 35 So then, bring forth our forefathers [as witnesses,] if what you claim is true!" 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those who were before them whom We destroyed? Indeed they were sinners. 37 We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, out of play. 38 We created them with definite purpose; but most of them do not understand. 39 Surely the Day of Decision shall be their appointed time, all together, 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 Except those upon whom Allah has mercy; indeed He only is the Most Honourable, the Most Merciful. 42
