We created man -- We know the promptings of his soul, and are closer to him than his jugular vein -- 16 (Remember!) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being after he or she has attained the age of puberty), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions). 17 He utters not a word but there is by him a watcher at hand. 18 The palsy of death will surely come. This is what you wished to avert. 19 And the Horn shall be blown; that is the Day of Threat! 20 Each soul will come with a driver and a witness. 21 (He will be told), "You were completely heedless of this day. We have removed the veil from your eyes and your vision will now be sharp and strong". 22 And his companion, [the angel], will say, "This [record] is what is with me, prepared." 23 (And it will be said): "Both of you throw (Order from Allah to the two angels) into Hell, every stubborn disbeliever (in the Oneness of Allah, in His Messengers, etc.). 24 [every] withholder of good [and] sinful aggressor [and] fomentor of distrust [between man and man - everyone] 25 Who had set up another god with God. Cast him into severe torment." 26 ۞ His satanic companion will say, "Our Lord, I did not mislead him, but he himself went astray". 27 He saith: Contend not in My presence, when I had already proffered unto you the warning. 28 "The Word changes not before Me, and I do not the least injustice to My Servants." 29
