Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the dipersing winds that disperse. 1 which carry clouds laden with water, 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 and those that apportion [the gift of life] at [God's] behest! 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 And undoubtedly justice will surely be done. 6 By the heaven containing pathways, 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Destroyed are the falsifiers 10 who flounder in the depths of ignorance. 11 They ask: when is the Day of Requital coming? 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 Surely the God-fearing will find themselves in the midst of gardens and springs. 15 enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: 16 They slept little in the night, 17 And every morning asked forgiveness, 18 and in their wealth was a share for whosoever asked and for whosoever was prevented. 19 For those with sure belief there are signs in the earth, 20 As also in your own selves: Will ye not then see? 21 There is in the heavens your sustenance, and whatever has been promised you. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
