Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the winds which scatter dust, 1 And those [clouds] carrying a load [of water] 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 And those who distribute (blessings) by command, 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 by the heaven full of tracks, 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Woe to the liars 10 they who blunder along, in ignorance lost 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire, 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: 16 They slept but a little at night, 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 And on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty, 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and whatever you are promised. 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
