Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 And those that glide with ease (upon the sea) 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 by the heaven full of tracks, 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 May the conjecturers perish, 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask, "When will the Day of Judgement come?" 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 And every morning asked forgiveness, 18 They assigned a share of their property for the needy and the destitute. 19 There are many Signs on earth for those of sure faith, 20 And (also) in yourselves. Can ye then not see? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
