Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat? 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 Then his wife drew near vociferating, and smote her face, and said: an old barren woman! 29 They said, "Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge." 30 ۞ He said: What is your affair then, O apostles! 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 That we may send upon them stones of clay, 33 Marked, from before thy Lord, for the extravagant. 34 So We brought out from therein the believers. 35 But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah). 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 There is another sign in Moses: We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 And in 'Ad (there is also a sign) when We sent against them the barren wind; 41 Which turned everything it touched to ashes. 42 In the Thamud [there was another sign], when they were told, "Make the most of your lives for a while." 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sa'iqah overtook them while they were looking. 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
