Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When they came to him saying, "Peace be with you," he replied to their greeting in the same manner and said to himself, "These are a strange people". 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 and he laid it before them saying, 'Will you not eat?' 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 His wife came out lamenting, striking her forehead, and said: "I, am old and barren woman?" 29 They said: "Thus said your Lord. He is indeed all-wise and all-knowing." 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They said: "We have been sent to a wicked people 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." 34 So We brought the believers out of that they were in. 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said, "A sorcerer, or one possessed!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts and cast them into the sea. Indeed, he was blameworthy. 40 And in 'Ad (there is also a sign) when We sent against them the barren wind; 41 It left nothing whatever that it came up against, but reduced it to ruin and rottenness. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 But they brazenly disobeyed their Lord's command, and then a sudden chastisement overtook them while they looked on. 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
