Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 So he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf. 26 and placed it before them, saying, "Will you not eat?" 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: fear not. And they gave him the tidings of a youth knowing. 28 Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman! 29 They said, "Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge." 30 ۞ Said he, 'And what is your business, envoys?' 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 marked by your Lord upon those who go beyond the limits.” 34 So We brought out from therein the believers. 35 but We found only one Muslim house. 36 And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. 37 And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him unto Fir'awn with authority manifest. 38 In response, he turned away along with his army and said, “He is a magician or a madman.” 39 We seized him and his army and threw them into the sea. He himself was to be blamed. 40 And in 'Ad (there is also a sign) when We sent against them the barren wind; 41 Which turned everything it touched to ashes. 42 And in Thamud, when it was said to them, "Enjoy yourselves for a time." 43 They transgressed against the command of their Lord. So a blast of sound struck them and they were unable to do anything but stare. 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
