The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 In a Scroll unfolded; 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 Of it there is no preventer. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 reclining on couches [of happiness] ranged in rows!" And [in that paradise] We shall mate them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
