The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 and by the Book in lines 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 and the uplifted roof 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 rejoicing in all that their Sustainer will have granted them: for their Sustainer will have warded off from them all suffering through the blazing fire. 18 "Eat and drink with relish," (they will be told), (as recompense) for what you had done." 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
