The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 By the book inscribed. 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 By the House Frequented. 4 And by the roof raised high (i.e. the heaven). 5 And the swollen sea, 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 We shall give them fruits and meats, and what they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
