The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 on fine parchment; 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 The roof raised high, 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ And there will go round on them youths appointed to attend them as though they were pearls hidden. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 They will say: verily we were aforetime, midst our household, ever in dread. 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 Lo! we used to pray unto Him of old. Lo! He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
