The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 on fine parchment; 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 And the elevated canopy 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 “Eat and drink with pleasure, a reward for what you used to do.” 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
