(Muhammad), remind them, by the Grace of your Lord, that you are neither a soothsayer or an insane person. 29 Or they allege, “He is a poet – we await a calamity of the times to befall him.” 30 Proclaim, “Go on waiting – I too am waiting along with you.” 31 Nay! do their understandings bid them this? Or are they an inordinate people? 32 Do they say, "He has falsely invented it (the Quran)?" In fact, they themselves have no faith. 33 Let them produce a phrase like it, if what they say is true! 34 Or, were they created out of nothing? Or, were they their own creators? 35 Did they create the heavens and the earth? No! They have no faith. 36 Or are the Treasures of thy Lord with them, or are they the managers (of affairs)? 37 Or have they any stairway (unto heaven) by means of which they overhear (decrees). Then let their listener produce some warrant manifest! 38 Or has He daughters, and they sons? 39 Or askest thou them for a wage, and so they are weighed down with debt? 40 Do they possess knowledge of the unseen, so that they can write it down? 41 Or, do they desire to outwit? The unbelievers are the outwitted. 42 Or have they an ilah (a god) other than Allah? Glorified be Allah from all that they ascribe as partners (to Him) 43 And if they were to see a piece of the heaven falling down, they would say: "Clouds gathered in heaps!" 44 So, leave them until they face their day (of doom) when they will be stunned. 45 The Day when their plotting shall not avail them at all nor will they be helped (i.e. they will receive their torment in Hell). 46 And verily, for those who do wrong, there is a punishment beyond that. But most of them know not. 47 And wait thou patiently the judgment of thy Lord; verily thou art before Our eyes; and hallow the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest. 48 And for part of the night also praise thou Him,- and at the retreat of the stars! 49
