The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it sets: 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 nor does he speak out of desire. 3 It is naught but revelation that is revealed, 4 taught by One who is Stern in power. 5 One vigorous; and he grew clear to view 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 then came down close 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 Will you dispute with him what he saw? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 Near it is the Garden of Refuge - 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 Do sons belong to you and daughters to God? 21 That, then, is an unjust division. 22 These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 23 Or shall man have what he coveteth? 24 But unto Allah belongeth the after (life), and the former. 25
