The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
