The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the declining star, 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 nor speaks he out of caprice. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 Which one of mighty powers hath taught him, 5 and endowed with wisdom; who in time manifested himself; 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 then drew near and suspended hung, 8 And was at a distance of two bows' length or (even) nearer, 9 And he revealed to His Servant what he revealed. 10 The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him (Muhammad SAW) about what he saw [during the Mi'raj: (Ascent of the Prophet SAW over the seven heavens)]. 12 And certainly he saw him descend a second time: 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 near which is the Garden of Abode. 15 when the lote tree was covered in mystic splendour. 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 And subsequently the third, the Manat? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 This is certainly an unjust apportioning. 22 these are nothing but names which you yourselves have devised, you and your forefathers. God has sent down no authority for them. They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own selves desire, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord! 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 But it is to God that the Hereafter and this world belong. 25
