Have you considered he who turns his back, 33 and gives a little, grudgingly? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And [of] Abraham, who fulfilled [his obligations] - 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 And that for man shall be naught save that wherefor he endeavoureth. 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 and that the final return is to your Lord, 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 and that He it is Who causes death and grants life, 44 That He created pairs, male and female, 45 from an ejaculated drop (of sperm), 46 And that on Him is the bringing forth a second time; 47 And that He it is Who enricheth and contenteth; 48 And that He it is Who is the Lord of Sirius; 49 that He it is Who destroyed the ancient 'Ad, 50 And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not; 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 He plunged the villages 53 And covered them by that which He covered. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 This is a Warner, of the (series of) Warners of old! 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 And laugh and not weep? 60 And you are lost in play! 61 So prostrate yourselves before Allah and worship. ۩ 62
