HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 And gave a little, then stopped (giving)? 34 Has he knowledge of the Unknown that he perceives everything? 35 Or has he not been told of what is in the scrolls of Moses, 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 That no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another- 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 And that his effort is going to be seen - 40 then, he shall be recompensed for it in full repayment 41 And that to your Lord is the finality 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 and that it is He who creates the two kinds - the male and the female 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 That it is He Who giveth wealth and satisfaction; 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that He destroyed the first [people of] 'Aad 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 And before them, the people of Noah, for that they were (all) most unjust and most insolent transgressors, 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 This is a (Prophet) like that of the ancient warners (Prophets). 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 And do you laugh instead of weeping, 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
