The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Hour (of Judgment) is nigh, and the moon is cleft asunder. 1 Yet if they see a sign they turn away, and they say 'A continuous sorcery!' 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 And assuredly there hath come unto them tidings wherein is a deterrent. 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 Sailing in front of Our sight; as a reward for the sake of one who was rejected. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning. 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
