The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 Surely there came to them narratives (of the ancient nations) that should suffice to deter (them from transgression), 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 They will come forth,- their eyes humbled - from (their) graves, (torpid) like locusts scattered abroad, 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 Then he called upon His Lord: “Verily I am vanquished; so come You to my aid.” 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 And We carried him on a (ship) made of planks and nails, 13 running before Our eyes-a recompense for him denied. 14 We made (the story of Noah) as evidence of the Truth. However, is there anyone who would take heed? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 which hurled people around like uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
