The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 And when they see a sign, they turn away and say, “Just a customary magic!” 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 they will come out of their graves, their eyes cast down, hastening towards their Summoner as locusts rushing about. 7 hastening towards the Crier. Those who deny the truth will cry, "This is such a hard day!" 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 Thereupon he prayed unto his Lord: verily am overcome, so vindicate me. 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 17 And there belied the A'ad; so how dreadful have been My torment and warning! 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 which hurled people around like uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning. 21 But We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 22

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
