Thamud (people also) belied the warnings. 23 So they said, “What! Shall we follow a man from among us? If we do, we are indeed astray, and insane!” 24 "Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih (Saleh)] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!" 25 [We said to him] "Tomorrow they shall know who is the boastful liar, 26 We are sending the she-camel to them to test them. So watch them and be patient. 27 Tell them that the water is to be apportioned between them (and her); and every turn of drinking will be fixed (for each)." 28 Then they called their comrade, and he took in hand, and hamstrung her. 29 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 32 The nation of Lot belied Our warnings. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 Thus do We recompense the grateful ones. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 they even wanted to seduce his guests -- but We blinded them, and said, "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" -- 37 In the morning early there came upon them a settled chastisement: 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran.
