Thamud denied the warning 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 Out of all of us has the Reminder been given to him alone? Rather, he is indeed an arrogant liar' 25 (To him We said): 'Tomorrow they shall know who is the arrogant liar. 26 We are sending the she-camel to them to test them. So watch them and be patient. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 In response they called their companion – he therefore caught and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning! 30 Then We sent against them one Shout and they became like the trampled twigs of the (sheep) penbuilder. 31 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 32 The people of Lut denied the Noble Messengers. 33 We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 Lot warned them of Our punishment, but they disputed the warnings -- 36 they even wanted to seduce his guests -- but We blinded them, and said, "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" -- 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran.
