The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 Was there none but he to whom the Reminder could be vouchsafed excluding all others? Nay; he is an insolent liar.” 25 Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one! 26 We are sending to them as a trial, a shecamel, so watch them and have patience. 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated. 28 In response they called their companion – he therefore caught and hamstrung the she-camel. 29 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 30 Verily, We sent against them a single Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.), and they became like the dry stubble of a fold-builder. 31 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 32 The people of Lut treated the warning. as a lie. 33 Indeed, We sent upon them a storm of stones, except the family of Lot - We saved them before dawn 34 As a Favour from Us, thus do We reward him who gives thanks (by obeying Us). 35 And assuredly he had warned them of Our grasp, but: they doubted the warnings. 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 40
