Thamood, too, belied Our warnings. 23 For they said: "A man! Alone from among us, that we are to follow? Truly, then we should be in error and distress or madness!" 24 Has the [Divine] message been revealed to him alone of all of us? No, he is a boastful liar." 25 Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one! 26 Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 We sent a single blast against them, and they were reduced to husks of a decayed fence. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lot rejected the warnings. 33 Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night, 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our assault but they disputed the warnings. 36 They even asked of him his guests for an ill purpose. Then We blinded their eyes (and said): Taste now My punishment after My warnings! 37 And certainly a lasting chastisement overtook them in the morning. 38 So now taste My punishment and My commination! 39 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 40
