The people of Thamud rejected Our warnings. 23 And said, "Is it one human being among us that we should follow? Indeed, we would then be in error and madness. 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 'They shall surely know tomorrow who is the impudent liar. 26 Indeed, We are sending the she-camel as trial for them, so watch them and be patient. 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 But they summoned their [boldest] companion, and he ventured [upon the evil deed,] and cruelly slaughtered [the animal]: 29 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 30 Behold, We let loose upon them one single blast [of Our punishment,] and they became like the dried-up, crumbling twigs of a sheepfold. 31 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night, 34 as a blessing from Us: this is how We reward the thankful. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 And they had demanded from him his guests, but We obliterated their eyes, [saying], "Taste My punishment and warning." 37 And at daybreak a determined punishment came upon them. 38 “So taste My punishment, and My warnings!” 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40
