The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and banana trees, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virgins. 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
