And said the leaders of his people, who disbelieved and denied the confronting of the Hereafter – and We had given them comfort in the worldly life – that, “He is nothing but a human like you, he eats from what you eat and drinks from what you drink.” 33 If you were to obey a human being like yourselves, you will certainly be losers. 34 Doth he promise you that you, when ye are dead and have become dust and bones, will (again) be brought forth? 35 ۞ What you are promised is indeed far-fetched. 36 There is only the life of this world: We die and we live: there is no rising from the dead for us. 37 He is nothing but a man who attributes his own lying inventions to God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 (The prophet) said: "O my Lord! help me: for that they accuse me of falsehood." 39 Answered (the Lord): "They shall wake up repenting soon." 40 Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! 41 After them We produced other generations 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after another; whenever there came to a people their apostle, they called him a liar, so We made some of them follow others and We made them stories; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 AND THEN We sent forth Moses and his brother Aaron with Our messages and a manifest authority [from Us] 45 To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people. 46 So they said: shall we believe in two human beings like unto us, while their nation are to us slaves? 47 So they denied them, and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 And We made the son of Maryam (Mary) and his mother as a sign, And We gave them refuge on high ground, a place of rest, security and flowing streams. 50
