The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 who taught the Quran -- 2 Created man, 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning, 5 And the herbs and the trees do obeisance. 6 And the heaven, He raised it high, and He made the balance 7 That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure. 8 And observe the weight with equity, and make not deficient the balance. 9 And the earth has He spread out for all living beings, 10 Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates] 11 and a variety of corn with both husk and grain. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 And the jinn did He create of smokeless fire. 15 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 16 He is Lord of the two easts and Lord of the two wests. 17 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 18 He unleashed the two seas so that they merge together, 19 Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass. 20 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 Which, of your Lord's wonders would you deny? 23 His are the ships displayed upon the sea, like banners. 24 Which of the favours of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 25
