The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and flowing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 And made them virginal, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
