The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Who will be honoured 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And wide eyed houris 22 like hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
